In a significant step towards enhancing labour migration governance, Ghana hosted the national consultation on strengthening labour migration governance through fair recruitment. The event saw the convergence of government bodies, private sector players, and civil society representatives, all focused on refining the recruitment and labour migration framework within the country.

The consultation held on 2 and 3 September, was marked by in-depth discussions and joint activities that addressed the existing challenges in Ghana's recruitment and labour migration processes. The session commenced with a detailed presentation on the FAIR III and JLMP-Lead projects, setting the stage for the ensuing deliberations.

Key outcomes of the consultation included the validation of research findings on Ghana's current recruitment practices, highlighting areas that require attention and improvement. Participants also had the opportunity to learn from successful interventions and best practices from various regions, which could be tailored to fit Ghana's unique context to promote fair recruitment and safeguard migrant workers' rights.

A collaborative approach led to the development of innovative solutions aimed at overcoming the identified challenges. Proposals were made to bolster institutional capacities, enhance enforcement mechanisms, and improve protections for workers.
