Background
Covid-19 has highlighted the vulnerable position of many migration workers, but also demonstrated the important role they play in healthcare institutions, agriculture and factory work, food processing, logistics and shop staffing, engineering and construction, public transportation and other services. What has also become more apparent is that due to wide and increasing demographic, labour market and skills imbalances across borders and regions, many millions of these workers are recruited from abroad.
Recent times has seen many initiatives to promote fair recruitment, but challenges remain. This conference gathers leaders of business, international organizations, workers and civil society for an exchange on recruitment practices that is timely and practical: seeing and seizing common ground—in these crises—for action.
